Korean netizens chose SM Entertainment as the company they would want to join if they were idols.
Community portal site DC inside took a poll from the 10th to the 17th and asked ‘What company would I want to join if I were an idol?’ and SM Entertainment placed first.
SM received 489 votes (30.9%) out of a total of 1586 votes. SM Entertainment began with group H.O.T and is the top entertainment company for debuting top idol groups such as S.E.S, Shinhwa, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, f(x), and EXO. They have a strong training system and is leading the industry in groundbreaking ways and they have a strong presence through variety and dramas as well.
YG Entertainment placed 2nd with 294 votes (18.5%). They started out with a successful hip hop level with Jinusean and 1TYM and displayed their potential with Wheesung, Big Mama, Seven, Big Bang, and 2NE1. They also had global success with singer Psy through his song ‘Gangnam Style’ in 2012 and have received attention worldwide.
3rd place went to Woolim Entertainment with 195 votes (12.3%). They originally were aiming for musicians with groups such as Epik High and Nell but they have also stepped forward as an idol management company with the success of group Infinite in 2010. Woolim merged with SM C&C in August of 2013 and are receiving a lot of attention.
Cube Entertainment, Loen Entertianment, and JYP Entertainment were the companies behind the top three.
